So did blogilo add your blog to the blog list or not?
if it is there now, is the blog URL correct?
If blogilo add a blog successfully to the blog list, it startsto fetch blog latest posts and categories. If this doesn't happen for you, the blog is not added and you can't send post to it, or get its style.

My timezone and that of the server are always at different times because they are in 2 different time zones. Are you suggesting that I change my PC's time zone every time I want to post to my blog??
That's stupid.
I'll just stick with older Bilbo.

Hi,
I'm using Wordpress 2.9.2 for my blogs and I tried to add it to blogilo.
After I add the blog, I get this error:

An error occurred in the last transaction

Server (XMLRPC) error: Received invalid XML markup: unexpected end of file at 1,183:16

Also, when I try to get the style of the blog, I get this error:
Server (XMLRPC) error: Received invalid XML markup: unexpected end of file at 138:16

Any suggestion how to fix these issues?

I'm hosted by canalblog (www.canalblog.com) my blog is ordidoc.canalblog.com. I'm trying to use Bilbo on PCLinux OS 2010 as my blogging software but it doesn't work.

I'm sure that you have seen this error before but for me it's new and i'm also new to Linux: Received invalid XML markup: unexpected character at 1:50

I have tried all the options in Advanced but still not lucky. It is frustration because it's the only function that is not working with PCLinux and i have to go back to Windows to use Live Writer in order to write my blog.

If you have a solution i'll be the happiest man around :)

Hi everyone!

I tried using Blogilo for the first time recently, only to find that it doesn't support my blog on Tumblr. It looks as though I am not making a mistake and that Blogilo simply doesn't support Tumblr. A web-search for "blogilo tumblr" (without the quotes) comes up with no useful results, so it seems that there isn't any support.

However, from what it says at http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/api, it probably would not be difficult to implement support in Blogilo. It seems as though Tumblr makes it easy for external programs to communicate with the servers. I could be wrong, though.

It's not an incredibly important feature request, especially if few other people are using Tumblr, but if there are, it would be fantastic if there were support for it in Blogilo.

I'm having the same issue here.

I just installed Wordpress 2.9.2, configured Blogilo but, every post I make from it, gets scheduled and not published.

My time zone is UTC-3, and I tried pretty much every combination of Wordpress/Blogilo time adjustment: UTC/UTC, UTC/Local, Local/UTC and Local/Local.

I also checked xmlrpc.php in Wordpress installation, but find couldn't anything there that could explain what's happening.

I'm using Blogilo 1.0.1, KDE 4.4.2, vanilla ArchLinux (no testing repos).

When you hit "get blog style", blogilo sends a test post to your blog, then fetches your blog style using the test post url, and stores the data in an html file.
After that, Each time you switch to preview tab, it replaces the test post content by the editor content in that file, and shows the result.
In fact after getting style, blogilo refers to the web just to fetch remote images or other links in the blog html file.

Hi mtux, thanks for responding. If I understand you correctly, you're saying that my Wordpress installation is passing an incorrect value to Blogilo when it asks for the postUrl?

Sorry for my ignorance (I knew I would regret tagging this with "bug"), but I think I don't understand the process of previewing a post. If I can understand better, maybe I'll be able to track down the problem, or at least ask an intelligent question on a Wordpress forum.

For example, I thought that Blogilo would have static information on the structure of the page (widgets and content in the sidebar, plus the css), which would only be updated if I hit "get blog style." In that case, I didn't think it needed to talk to my server again when I ask for a post preview without submitting the post.

Was I wrong about that? Does Blogilo upload the test post to the server for previewing?

Thanks,
Chris

The current (1.0.1) dialog that appears when you click Submit looks like this:

[ radio buttons: ]
() Publish as an edit of the original entry
() Publish as a new post
-------
[ checkbox: ]
[] Save entry in drafts

I hate that last check-box, it took me forever to figure out what it meant!

- does it mean in a collection of drafts on my machine, or on the server?

- does it mean ALSO save in drafts, in addition to publishing it?

- will all my personal copies of it be deleted if I don't check that box?

Actually it means, instead of publishing it on your blog for people to read, upload it to the "drafts" section of your blog. Furthermore, whether the version on your disk is closed actually depends only on the NEXT dialog box that comes up, that asks whether you want to close it.

I suggest radio-buttons so that both options can be named -- (after all, the other thing in that dialog has radio-buttons because it needs them just as much). Such as:

() Publish
() Place in server's "drafts" section

and change the other radio-buttons, instead of saying "Publish", say "Upload" or "Submit" (probably "Submit" to be consistent with the name of the button and the title of the dialog-window, because that word there is trying NOT to add any new information).

I think "Place in server's "drafts" section" sounds a little awkward, so if you have any better ideas that don't compromise clarity... :) (i.e. it should not cause me to wonder about any of the three questions I mentioned above. And it should be a wording consistent with either a new post, or a re-upload of an old post that was formerly published, or that was formerly a draft, and that is now becoming published or becoming merely a draft...).

Hi, I'm having some trouble with Post Preview on Blogilo 1.0 (Mandriva 2010.0). It was working fine, but I changed my CSS stylesheet so I asked Blogilo to "Get blog style." Now I see the front page of my blog in the preview tab instead of the preview of the post I'm working on. My blog is running on Wordpress and I'm using the Metaweblog API. Is this a known problem?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi, I'm a new user. Blogilo is really nice! I'm looking forward to this feature as well. When I put CSS styles in the HTML editor they get stripped; haven't figured out if Wordpress is doing it or Blogilo. No problem adding them as a final touch in Wordpress just before publishing, though -- Blogilo is still a nicer way to compose a post, so I will keep using it.

I've had this issue with Bilbo/Blogilo as well, posting to wordpress.com . I was able to go into the web interface and turn my post from scheduled to published by editing the post's time to be, not merely a few minutes before the present time, but several hours before. (Even though my timezone is correctly set in the wordpress preferences to UTC-5.) It also appears to work to, in Blogilo, under Post Options, check "Modify Timestamp" and reduce the hour value sufficiently.

But then, I usually post in the evenings. Could it be Wordpress getting confused by the fact that, in UTC it is presently March 9th, but in UTC-5 it is March 8th, at 10 p.m. UTC-5 (3 a.m. UTC)?

Oh, you seem to be right that using http://wordpress.com/ works (albeit with a few quirky error messages and pitfalls -- but I seem to be connected to my blog now!) Should we try to report this issue to wordpress.com or wordpress.org , do you think?

Really strange problem!
I have it here right now :-/
And I've tested and saw that it's Wordpress that sent wrong data!
It's wordpress problem, You can try it while monitoring packets with wireshark or something like it! and see what's the wordpress response data!

BTW, To get out of this problem, You can set http://wordpress.com as your blog url and try! It will fetch all of your blogs, and you can select which one you want!

What I did:
Made a blog on wordpress.com that I used for a while, let's call it subdomain1.wordpress.com. Then, under that account, I made another blog at "subdomain2.wordpress.com". I tried to add subdomain2.wordpress.com to Blogilo (I don't use blogilo for subdomain1, by the way, but I've used blogilo for unrelated blogs in the past) -- I entered subdomain2.wordpress.com and my username and password into blogilo's "add blog" form and clicked "Auto-Configure", and it switched all the info to the subdomain1 info. I couldn't find any way to fix it. I even tried switching the field back to subdomain2.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php, and also going on the Web logging into my wordpress.com and looking for the Blog ID#s to put into "advanced" (the only place I could find them was on subdomain.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs , mouse over a blog and over "Transfer Blog" and find the number in the "transfer=" field of the URL in the status-bar -- right-click and copy that URL)

In case it matters, subdomain1 is http://haddock2009.wordpress.com/ and subdomain2 is http://melioria.wordpress.com/

I think the issue may have something to with, on that "my-blogs" page I mentioned in passing above: on that page, the blogs have an ordering, and a radio-button that says "primary". Currently subdomain1 is labelled "primary", per default. I have no idea what these things mean, although with some persistent searching I was able to discover a few effects of the "primary blog" setting (some of which sound more like bugs than features)... http://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=primary+blog

Nevertheless, I think Blogilo is the main culprit here (unless it turns out the Wordpress API is broken and can't deal with multiple-blogs related to one login). I'm using Blogilo 1.0.1/KDE platform version 4.4.1/QT 4.6.2 on Arch Linux.

P.S. I switched subdomain2 to be "primary" as well as first in the order displayed on the "my-blogs" page. Neither of these made it possible for me to configure blogilo for subdomain2 (there was no observable difference within blogilo).

Is there any way to have Blogilo/Bilbo NOT use KWalletManager? Even if it means storing credentials in plain text. I am aware of the security risks of not using encrypted passwords, but I find KWalletManager to be obtrusive, which is the main reason I don't use software that uses it.

If it makes a difference, I'm using Kubuntu 9.10.
