Hi folks,

I am trying to get blogilo (version 1.0.1 on KDE 4.6.1, as shipped by Linux Mint) to work interfacing to a blogspot blog, but I cannot even get that thing configured. I noticed other forum posts describing somewhat similar problems but did not come across an actual solution.

Here are my details:
Blog URL: http://zugvogel.blogspot.com (as reported in the URL field of my web browser)
Login ID: ludwig.frank@gmail.com

So I am trying:
Blog/Homepage URL: http://zugvogel.blogspot.com
Username: ludwig.frank, tried both with and without the "@gmail.com" postfix
Password: (private, but retyped multiple time to make sure)

Auto-Configure

The result:
Fetching BlogID failed. Please check my internet connection.

The internet connection is fine, I have regular pings to an offsite mail server in a console window right next to blogilo. In addition, the blog itself is open in a browser.

Details: Could not regexp the profile ID.
Don't know what that means, but the regexp part makes me worried about the dot in my username.

Same thing happens if I go to the Advanced tab, trying to fetch the ID directly, just that I now got about two or three of those error messages in rapid succession.

Eventually, I also get bigger error boxes informing me that fetching the blog id timed out. These bigger boxes keep accumulating until I cancel the blog setup process.

---

I tried to take a TCP dump and I can see what looks like DNS queries on zugvogel.blogspot.com. I did not see any attempts to make use of my username anywhere in that trace. Just for fun, I modified the username to something else without a dot in it, but with the same results and error messages.

That's all I can think of right now. I am of course willing to perform additional tests if it helps. In the meanwhile, anxiously awaiting your insights ---

Thanks!

Frank

Hi, the download link on the website is misleading, it doesn't lead to any download location at KDE.
blogilo.gnufolks.org/download says:

Latest stable release:
Blogilo 1.0.1:
From KDE download center

http://www.kde.org/download/ is about how to download KDE and software compilation, and doesn't mention Blogilo. It can be confusing to people looking for a Blogilo 1.0.1 binary. Thanks.

When using the HTML editor I cut and pasted the code for embedding an infographic, then saved the draft locally for later use. On restarting Blogilo, the program opens up in the Visual Editor by default. On going to the HTML Editor, the embed codes had been stripped by the auto-format. Is there a way around this? Thanks.

The embed code was:
<div class='visually_embed' rel='infographic' /><img class='visually_embed_infographic' src='http://visually.visually.netdna-cdn.com/TopTechTrendsof2011_4ef4a1fcc4b8e_w587.png' rel='http://visually.visually.netdna-cdn.com/TopTechTrendsof2011_4ef4a1fcc4b8e.png' /><div class='visually_embed_bar' ><span>by </span>Column Five Media<span> via </span><img border='0' alt='visually' src='http://visual.ly/embeder/logo.png'></div><link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='http://visual.ly/embeder/style.css' /><script type='text/javascript' src='http://visual.ly/embeder/embed.js' > </script></div>

bmahf on "Cmake on Solaris"

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to cmake, and am trying to use an existing cmake process to compile my company's code on solaris. The last person to do a solaris build in this company left a couple of years ago, and so I don't really have the knowledge of this process at my fingertips.

I have two problems:

1) When the cmake process gets to the place where it's trying to create a shared library from libraries that already exist, I get the following output:

ADD_LIBRARY for library <libname> is used with the SHARED option, but the target platform supports only STATIC libraries. Building it STATIC instead. This may lead to problems.

It is impossible that the target platform solaris cannot be supporting shared libraries. So it seems only reasonable to say that some definition is not properly set to instruct the cmake system that for the solaris platform I want shared libraries.

Has anyone run into this problem? I see a lot of talk online about this, but none of what I am seeing seems to be useful. Unfortunately, I cannot share the build process online, and I don't know enough about cmake to create an example process that does the same.

2) The decision was made to go ahead with the build, even though it was going to be creating statis libraries, and then we would go back and fix that later. So I ran gmake and get to a subproject where the __solaris__ define that I had given didn't propagate.

I have added the command "add_definitions(-D__solaris__)" to the .cmake files picked up by the main project and each of the subprojects. But when I put a "#ifdef __solaris__" followed by a #else, and put a #error in each of these blocks to give a message and abort, I always get the message saying that it didn't find __solaris__ as defined.

Having put the add_definitions call in all projects throughout the solution, I am not sure what is going on here. Does anyone have a suggestion.

Thanks...

Hi, I failed to add my blog on Bilbo blogger.
After I switched to kubuntu 9.04, I can't add my blog on Bilbo blogger. It was a fresh installation, I didn't upgrade it from kubuntu 8.10.
Bilbo works fine on kubuntu 8.10(kde4.2.2).
It doesn't work even without root privilage, so I tried "sudo bilbo", but no luck.
I also tried to remove the database/configuration of bilbo.
Is it a bug?

my blog is on blogspot/bloger

Rejoice - there is a blogging program for KDE4! :D

However, I ran into a small snag: I use a plugin for Joomla 1.5 to provide a Blogger/MetaWeblog/MovableType API to Bilbo. This sort of works: I had a problem where Bilbo insisted on calling metaWeblog.getCategories while this function is not advertised (and ofcourse my server responded with a function-not-found error).

After implementing this function, Bilbo now neatly displays all categories to which I can post. And as long as I do not select a category, posting works like a charm. However, when I select a category, a struct is sent to the server with the category name.

The server responds with this: "Invalid request payload xmlrpc element STRING cannot be child of DATA"

This seems to be a parser error returned by the XML-RPC library used by Joomla (and I assume PHP). For example, the following is send to the server and fails:

According to the API docs (for example http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa905673.aspx) the <string> element should be a <value> element. This solves the problem when posting to Joomla! 1.5

Is this something that could be fixed in the next release?

I am currently using SourceForge userapps for my blog (https://sourceforge.net/userapps/wordpress/buchanmilne/), which currently runs Wordpress 2.8.4. I enabled the XML-RPC API, and tried to add this blog to blogilo 1.0, but when I click the "Auto-Configure" button, it tells me "Fetching BlogID Faild!, please check your internet connection". If I click the details button, it says "Received invalid XML markup: error occurred while parsing element at 1:1". If it didn't get that far, then maybe it doesn't like the way SF's wordpress works (which is tied in to the rest of SF web app authentication).

Is this an issue that could be addressed in blogilo, or should I file an enhancement request at SF in order to allow and/or document how to get the wordpress XML-RPC API working?

Hi,
I'm loving Blogilo; it's definitely the best offline blogging platform I've found on Ubuntu, but the posts it's sending appear as "scheduled" for the exact time that I'm posting them, and never get published. Eventually they get classified as "missed schedule".

I found this post referencing the same problem two years ago, but it seems that it's been fixed and nobody else is having this problem.

I'm using up-to-date Wordpress (3.1.3) and Blogilo (1.0.1), and my time zone is correctly set in WP. Any ideas?

welcome,

Blogilo is missing many of normal features, if you blogger and using Windows Live Writer you will know that with blogilo you can't upload images directly to blogger [picasa web-albums] such as WLW and there was no way to manage categories or pages of blogger blogs.
I wish blogilo got update to be more practical and useful

I have noticed a problem on my most recent blog http://mylinuxramblings.wordpress.com/ where the last item which was pasted into the blog e.g text, a url for a hyper-link or even an image randomly gets pasted back into the document at the cursor point. This can lead to an blog which is difficult to read, especially if it is a technical blog like my own.

The problem seems to go away once the blog is saved locally, but is retained between reboots of the PC. It is possible that something may be corrupt in my blog post as I do get an KIO slave error on start-up, although everything seems to work fine including uploading.

I'm using openSUSE 11.4 with KDE. Blogilo works fine (as for me), but there is a little problem - it doesn't want to add more than 1 blog for one instance. So, if i want to add 3 blogs, i need to start Blogilo, add first one, close Blogilo. Start it again, add second one, close Blogilo, etc. It's a little annoying. And the most strange thing - i didn't see anything in terminal.

Hi,

i have a little problem with blogilo on the blogging software serendipity. I don't get categories. Serendipity uses MovableType, MetaWeblog, Blogger api. I tried all of them and nothing works.

Already asked them for help:

Maybe you can tell us more. :)

Hey all,

I'm using Blogilo 1.0.1 with a WordPress blog on Ubuntu 10.04 LTR.

I was trying to create a link in my document to another part of the document and it's not working.

The link is written as: Install Base System
And the tag it connects to in the document is:

Every time I try to upload it deletes the entire tag section! It seems to upload the correct document and it works online, but the one I am left with in Blogilo has the tag missing. If I try to upload again it doesn't work since the tag is gone.

Any ideas?

I'm running a self-hosted Wordpress 3.1 installation, and am getting the following error when uploading with an image attached:

I tried Blogilo once earlier and it seemed to work fine, even with uploading an image (this might have been before upgrading from Wordpress 3.0.5, but I'm not sure).

When no image was attached ("Media list" being empty), it was posted successfully, but I got a crash with this terminal output after saying "don't keep the post open":
